Protective coatings and membranes in short

Tactical Height Solutions provides protective coatings and membranes for buildings in Sydney using IRATA-certified rope access technicians instead of scaffolding. Anti-carbonation, elastomeric and anti-corrosion coating systems applied from the rope to protect concrete, render and steel. Every job is supervised by an IRATA Level 3 technician, carried out under NSW contractor licence 478674C, and covered by $20 million public liability insurance. Site inspections in Sydney are free, enquiries get a reply the same day, and most jobs can start within 48 hours of an approved quote.

Decorative paint makes a building look good. Protective coatings keep it standing up to weather, salt and pollution. On concrete buildings, steel structures and coastal sites, the right coating system can add years to the life of the structure and the time between major repairs.

We apply protective coating systems from the rope: anti-carbonation coatings on concrete, elastomeric membranes that bridge fine cracks in render, and anti-corrosion systems on steel. Each system goes on to the manufacturer's specification for preparation, film thickness and recoat times, because that is what the coating's performance depends on.

Why choose our protective coatings and membranes

  • Protects the structureSlows carbonation and corrosion, the causes of concrete cancer.
  • Bridges fine cracksElastomeric systems flex with the building and keep water out.
  • Specified correctlyPreparation and film thickness to the manufacturer data sheet.
  • Hard-to-reach areasTanks, structures and façades without scaffold or lifts.

Questions about protective coatings and membranes

What is an anti-carbonation coating?

It is a coating that slows the carbon dioxide in the air from reaching the concrete and reducing its protection of the steel inside. It is often applied after concrete repairs to help prevent concrete cancer returning.

What is an elastomeric coating?

An elastomeric coating is a thick, flexible coating that stretches with small movements in the wall. It can bridge fine cracks in render and keeps water out better than standard paint.

Can protective coatings be applied by rope access?

Yes. Most façade and structure coatings can be applied from the rope, as long as the preparation and application conditions on the data sheet can be met.
